Furnitecture is one of the hottest and most innovative fields of design at the moment. It is essentially the art of designing and building bespoke furniture that is architected into rooms.
Furnitecture is one of the hottest and most innovative fields of design at the moment. It is essentially the art of designing and building bespoke furniture that is architected into rooms. We love using it in the following scenarios:
- To create more interesting room divisions or to mark out key areas in an open plan space, as an alternative to using walls
- To double up functionality in compact spaces.
Some of our favourite furnitecture designs we’ve delivered clients:
Oversized headboard which is bolted into the floor. We designed the back and sides as a walnut block and upholstered the front with leather panels. Hiding behind the lamps are Lutron controls, power sockets and panic buttons. At the foot of the bed is a beautiful bespoke TV cabinet. We designed this to house a 40” TV and a powered lift and swivel mechanism so you can watch it both sides – lying in bed or on a chaise.
Beautiful window seat with a view, architected into this walk in wardrobe where every square metre is maximised. The drawers underneath the seat double up for dirty laundry storage.
Black oak desk architected into the wall appears to float and blends in seamlessly with the cantilever staircase it sits under. A neat space saving solution for a home office.
This beautiful dressing table and Hollywood mirror provides a make-up artists dream and also serves as a barrier to stop you falling down the staircase behind.
Cantilever dining table we architected into this kitchen island provides a streamlined look to this long open plan space. Table appears to float as the island does all the work in supporting it.
A neat solution to storing shoes galore. Pivots on a hinge for easy access.
